Cycling Malaysia Coming out

Each month, I will be excited on few things. 1. Salary? well I work on my own as a computer Technician/ Business owner. 2. Cycling Malaysia Magazine! Everytime I go to a bookstore, I will be hunting for this Magazine for the latest issue. Normally, I will visit Mynews.com outlets at Aeon Mahkota Cheras or Tesco Kajang. The best way to find out when it is out is by following Cycling Malaysia on Facebook  as they will post hints and previews about when the mag will be out. Most of the time, my rider friends will tag me and post it on my wall.

Why do I read this mag? Not so much for products but I am just excited to find myself in the mag! (Vain) Cycling Malaysia will write about all the latest race and jamborees and their photographers are always at these events taking our pics, so it will great joy if I find faces I recognise or even better, myself inside their reports haha.

Secondly, I also read it to catch up on latest bike gears and how to build up a bike with various components. Lastly, Cycling Malaysia also lists all the upcoming races and jamborees all over Malaysia so I can plan and decide which one to join. Best of all, the magazine has digital versions for iPads that one can subscribe and read at the same time contributing to lesser carbon footprint by buying the actual copies. I might actually just try that out myself.

PCC Specialized Presidential Ride 2014 Starting Point to CP2

Just last week, I joined the PPC Specialized Presidential Ride and it has got to be the toughest ride ever in my life.

If you are a rider, you might be interested in the trail and statistics that I recorded with my iPhone using the Endomondo and Strava App. This ride took me through four hills that are super crazy and at every loop there is a way out for those that can't take it anymore, called Chicken Loop. Well, I really didn't want to take the chicken loop so I totally pushed myself to finish and yes I managed to do it! Praise God. I managed to finish the ride 4 hours 37. This was also the longest ride for me that was why my head mounted camera went out of battery before the third hill. If you watch the nearly 2 hours video, only CP 1 and CP 2 were recorded.

One of my rider friends Raymond Hew said this after the ride:

Just completed my first hardcore PCC ride yesterday. I did it in 5 hours and 28 minutes including rest stops/queuing/traffic jams/bike carrying and the total ride time is 4 hours and 49 minutes. I got lucky and won a bicycle rack from the Lucky Draw. I still could not believe I managed to complete because I know it wasn't an easy ride at all. I fell off my bike at least 4 to 5 times with minor injuries before I reached the finishing line. Also thanks to Steve Chee for his new Merida carbon bike...Hahahahaha

On the way, I did see quite a number of people slip and fall, in fact I nearly did myself and scratched the back of my legs. Bleed a bit but it was ok. In the end I got No 46. I really salute one guy who is a unicyclist, finishing the ride with only one wheel.

There were over 1500 participants but those that finished the race completely were about 300+ only. The next PCC ride is going to be 2 years from now. For those yet to join, maybe you can consider training from today onwards!

Lenggeng to Broga to Semenyih Town

This was the first time I ever recorded one of my rides. This was recorded with an Ion Air Pro with Wifi mounted camera. (Review coming up on this camera). I got this camera for quite a steal from Steven of Bike Corner, Mahkota Cheras. Steve, the boss of this shop, is possibly the first Rider I met before I started my riding 'career' about a year ago. Everytime I passed by Mahkota for lunch, I will surely stop by Steve's shop to check out his goods and his bikes, or even just to hang out and chat. It so happened that one day while I was stopping by, I saw this camera on the counter and he told me it's a very new used unit for sale. The previous owner hardly even used it so I was so excited, I immediately purchased it. That was the start of my videos!

I usually ride really early in the morning, like 5am. So you can see that my video started off really dark and eerie. Being my first video, I really didn't know how to edit and update on Youtube properly, but I hope you still enjoy the ride with me hehehe. Follow my blog for my posts on my rides, routes, jamborees and more!
